OnePlus will release one of the first 5G smartphones
Dear Readers, I have good news for you OnePlus will release one of the first 5G smartphones. OnePlus will be one of the principal organizations to dispatch a 5G-prepared cell phone in 2019. Pei notes that OnePlus has already completed a 5G test at Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Francisco. That test would have relied on hardware like the Snapdragon X50 5G modem, but it’s unclear what OnePlus will use in its upcoming phone. The X50 is a standalone 5G device, so the device would need to use the LTE modem in the Snapdragon system-on-a-chip (SoC) to connect most of the time. Motorola’s solution is to sell a Mod add-on for the Moto Z3 that contains its own battery and 5G modem.

We don’t yet know when OnePlus will show off its first 5G smartphone, but Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon said that the first device to sport its new Snapdragon X50 5G modem with downsized QTM052 mmWave antenna module will appear in the first quarter of next year.
Amon also quipped that Qualcomm expects to see “at least two” 5G flagships next year. Huawei and Samsung are both expected to have 5G devices in the pipeline, and Qualcomm revealed that Asus, HMD Global, LG, Motorola, Oppo, Sony, vivo, and Xiaomi have all committed to adopting its 5G modem.
Qualcomm has also revealed some more details regarding the first wave of 5G Snapdragon handsets that would arrive in 2019. Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon during the same event said that the company expects the release of at least two flagship 5G smartphones next year. He said that one of the handsets may arrive in the first half of the year, and one in the second.
